1. Africa Freedom Mission is an initiative of Freedom House International, Inc. , a 501C3 non-profit organization. All donations are tax deductible and donors will receive statements of giving at the end of the calendar year.

  2. Short-Term and Career Missionaries serving with FHI or AFM have been deputized to raise support on the organization’s behalf.
FHI and AFM maintains complete discretion and control over the use of all donated funds; however, every effort will be made by FHI and AFM to honor the preference of each donor.

  3. The trip costs are non-negotiable. They include international flights and hotels and all food, lodging and transportation while serving with FHI or AFM in Africa. Items that are not included in trip costs and are, therefore, the responsibility of the team member are as follows: domestic flights, immunizations, visas and food during travel to and from International destinations.

  4. Individuals who do not meet the financial goals before the last assigned date will not be permitted to travel.

  5. The trip deposit is required before an individual will be considered a participating team member. This deposit is non-refundable.

  6. If an individual decides not to travel for any reason, all funds raised (minus trip deposit and expenses already incurred by FHI or AFM related to travel) will be held in an account for up to but no longer than one year (12 months) for the team member to use towards another trip.  To reschedule, it will be their responsibility to contact FHI / AFM and choose a future trip offering.

  7. If Freedom House International or Africa Freedom Mission has to postpone a trip for any reason, the deposit and any other funds raised will be held in an account for up to but no longer than one year (12 months) for the team member to use towards another trip.  To reschedule, it will be the team member’s responsibility to contact FHI or AFM and choose a future trip offering.

  8. When vaccines are required by the country of service, FHI and AFM will require vaccines for participation in that trip.  Should the team member, at that point, choose not to become vaccinated, it will not be sufficient cause to refund any trip donations.

  9. Cancellations that occur after August 15th for Winter Trips and January 15th for Summer Trips are considered late cancellations. In such cases, the trip deposit + $500 will be forfeited and the remaining monies will be kept in an account for you to use with another trip with FHI or AFM.

  10. Cancellations that occur after airfare purchases have been made are considered late cancellations. In such cases, the trip deposit + $500 + any airline fees will be forfeited and the remaining monies will be kept in an account for you to use with another trip with FHI or AFM.

  11. If a team member raises more money than required for their particular trip, they can do one of the following with those additional funds: (1) designate them toward another team member that is serving with FHI or AFM or (2) request those funds be held for a future trip with FHI or AFM (within 12 months of their current trip). FHI and AFM do not administrate some of the other charges that team members incur (domestic flights, immunizations, visas, etc.). Therefore, these additional funds CANNOT be used for these types of expenditures.

  12. After one year (12 months) from your initial scheduled trip, any monies held in a team member’s account will be absorbed back into the ministry and used toward other missions or ministry purposes.

  13. Refunds WILL NOT be issued for any donations for any reason. In addition to this, FHI / AFM will not transfer funds donated towards a team member’s trip to other non-profits for any reason.
